5 most popular Bollywood Movies based on books



Bestselling novels have always fascinated Bollywood that have turned into popular movies. These novels have popularized and inspired Indian cinema so much that it arouses curiosity among laymen. I myself is fascinated about books and movies and so thought about listing down such movies which were actually based on popular books/novels. So here I am listing those popular Bollywoodmovies which were actually based on famous authors’ novels. 


Devdas 

Devdas, the eternal and tragic love story is actually written by Great author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The flim won ten awards at the 2002 Flimfare Awards. The flim went on to become a box office hit. The movie shows how the social customs in Bengal brings hurdle in the love of two people. Though the movie had a powerful cast such as Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai but the success really lies in a good story and of course the credit goes to the author.

Chokher Bali 

Chokher Bali, brilliantly directed Bengali drama movie is again based on the novel “Chokher Bali” by Rabindranath Tagore. Aishwaraya Rai playing lead in the movie received lot of appreciation and the movie also won the National Flim Award for Best Feature Flim in Bengali.

7 Khoon Maf 

And here comes a marvelous movie starring Priyanka Chopra, 7 Khoon Maf! This flim is based on the short story, Susanna’s Seven Husbands by Ruskin Bond. He is an internationally acclaimed writer who contributed this mystic story turn into a classic movie. Though the movie couldn’t gain success but Priyanka got noticed and appreciated by many flim critics. There is no surprise why today Priyanka Chopra can be seen in Hollywood movies!

3 Idiots 

3 Idiots, an iconic movie that ticked our funny bones and made us cry is based on Chetan Bhagat’s best-selling novel – Five Point Someone.  Chetan Bhagat is one such Indian writer whose almost all novels have turned into great Bollywood movies. The movie starring Amir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhvan and Sharman Joshi became the highest grossing Bollywood movie of all time. Now, that’s the power of words!

Haider 

Haider, starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Tabbu is a movie based on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Shahid Kapoor’s brilliant acting and a power-packed story left the audience awestruck. We all know William Shakespeare was the greatest English writer who has been regarded for his excellent works. Thus, there is no surprise if Bollywood adopts one of his stories to create yet another Bollywood flick.
