She talked
animatedly while talking to her grandma. Wow! her grandma looks after her even
she is away from home – I thought. How many people might be calling her? Her
dad, mom, siblings and best part, her grandparents!
After good
15 minutes of the talk, she kept the phone down and returned to me. We were
good friends meeting after a long time. We had a long chat, she served me and
some snacks and finally, waved goodbye to her to go home.
We always
manage some time for our friends but do we do the same with our grandparents?
Unfortunately, I was too young when my grandparents expired. Their existence
during my childhood mattered to me a lot, especially my grandma. She was there
before I turned 10 and so are my memories of her are blurred.
My grandma
was quite strict and would often scold us. She used to visit frequently each
and every house of her grown children and us, as her grandchildren. She
wouldn’t stay long but her presence would dominate the house. Little did I know
that she would no longer be there when I’ll be all grown-up girl!
Often I
think what if I had my grandparents around my growing years, what would have
been my teenage years?
On this
Grandparents Day, I feel overwhelmed that if she would have been here today, I
would have cherished every day like this:
Since I am
not good at making hair braid, so I would have let my grandma do the honor with
my crowning glory! My evenings wouldn’t have ended with a Whatsapp chat but a
nice, hot hair massage. She would have taught me so many lessons of #LoveJatao
and I would’ve gladly listened to them.
I would
have told about my BFFs and she would have lent an ear to me. Gossiping would
have been so much different with her!
I could embrace
her often only to make me warmer in her arms and she would have advised one or
two with her wise vision.
Life could
have been so much better if she would have here with me to #LoveJatao!
My mornings
and my evenings would have been so much dreamier and warmer, only if I had my
grandma alive. However, I cherish these imagined memories that I recreated and
I cherish those which have got blurred with time.
I celebrate
this Grandparents Day by recalling old memories of her. I look
forward to hear from you how would you celebrate Grandparents Day. Do share a
selfie with your grandparents on Sept. 10, 2017 on Twitter or Facebook with
#LoveJatao & tag @blogadda to win a goodie from Parachute Advansed.
